Dear Friends of FEMME HOUSE:
FEMME HOUSE is a 501(c)(3) that fosters more equitable opportunity for historically underrepresented communities in the technical and behind the scenes areas of music. We are creating the future producers, mixers, engineers, DJs, artists, and executives of the industry by providing education and scholarships, cultivating community, propagating visual representation, and offering professional development opportunities.
When we started this organization, our goal was simple-- to create more opportunity and representation for women and gender expansive individuals in the technical areas of music. In our first two years, FEMME HOUSE has evolved into a highly engaged global community of champions and creators that support our suite of affordable online courses and scholarship programs, alongside a weekly radio show on SiriusXM, hundreds of hours of livestreams with hundreds of thousands of viewers, and additional programming that highlights historically underserved and often marginalized groups.
Since 2019, FEMME HOUSE has expanded our programming to include free workshops on everything from music production to DJing, specialized online coursework on studio techniques, a weekly radio show on SiriusXM highlighting the best of dance music, a bi-yearly scholarship program for BIPOC creators, and a robust online platform featuring the foremost female and gender-expansive talent. By tearing down as many barriers to entry as possible, we are affecting change on a systemic, industry-wide level.
We have worked hard to solidify our internal operations and are in the process of building out a highly motivated Board of Directors and fundraising strategy to support the expansion of our programs and impact.
In 2021, we expanded our educational impact by partnering with She Is The Music and We Are Moving The Needle to create She Is The Producer—a free production bootcamp that educated over 3,000 individuals from over 1,400 cities in 77 countries worldwide. In 2022, we plan to expand on that impact by creating more pathways for education and exposure of women and gender expansive individuals.
Unfortunately, lineups continue to be heavily dominated by male artists. The largest Festival in the US, Electric Daisy Carnival, boasts only 20 women artists out of the 285 artists on their lineup. In order to disrupt this narrative, FEMME HOUSE is entering the touring space with FEMME HOUSE PRESENTS—booking all female lineups and hosting educational workshops
during the day, while additionally hosting stage takeovers at larger events and Festivals to ensure those lineups are more equitable.
We believe in visual representation—if you can't see it you can't be it. FEMME HOUSE PRESENTS will allow us to put more women on stages, leading more women to believe they can become be producers, engineers + DJs, and encouraging them to enter the classroom with FEMME HOUSE and expand their skillsets. We are ready to fill in another puzzle piece that will get us closer to solving the inequalities in the space.
We hope to inspire your continued support of FEMME HOUSE. In order for these major shifts in the industry to continue to grow, we need to grow our community as we continue to provide the resources and opportunities necessary to change the landscape of the music industry as a whole.
In gratitude,
